I am currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Sciences,University of Cagliari.

My research is focused on two main fields:

- Regenerative medicine: we study human amnion-derived stem cells and their potential to differentiate into liver (and other) cells. We try to develop new strategies for the management of liver disease by hepatocyte transplantation.

- Oncology: we are interested in studying the role of tissue microenvironment in the development and progression of cancer, with a particular focus of the importance of cell competition, cell senescence and aging. We also study the role of altered tissue pattern formation as an early trigger of cancer progression.
